Money and Emotion

With Mariah Hudler

Kia Ora friend,

I hope you this finds you well. I am aware this season continues to be a challenging time for many with winter illness. We’ve been in the midst of it too.

It has been a long time since I published, but here is lovely conversation with a friend who is a doing something unique. Mariah Hudler is a licensed mental health clinician with a background social work. She works in California as a registered financial therapist and psychotherapist. Mariah is passionate about the intersection between money and emotion. Her treatment is tailored to meet the varied mental health needs of her clients. Mariah currently lives in Sacramento but has spent some years living in New Zealand. Recently while she was living here, I caught up with Mariah and had the pleasure of meeting her husband and son. That sunny Sunday afternoon our families went for a walk down Sumner beach. As we walked I asked Mariah many questions about her financial therapy work. This conversation naturally turned into this podcast episode.

I find the link between money behaviours such as overspending, and the nervous system fascinating. In this conversation Mariah gives some brief methods for calming the nervous system that you may want to jot down (or see the transcript) and give it a try. Mariah started Koru Financial Therapy to provide a holistic approach to navigating emotional and financial health. She provides evidence-based psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and entrepreneurs.

As you will hear we had fun doing this! Ngā mihi nui Mariah. Thank you for doing this with me.

You can find the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify below or other major platforms. I hope you will enjoy listening.

Ngā mihi,

Bronnie
